Hi, I’m Joanna!
Alaskan nature nerd, adventurer, and animal lover. With a felting needle, soap and water I turn wool fibers into felted images of the plants, animals and colors I adore. Welcome to my wild and wooly world!
I’ve always loved being near the ocean…
Born and raised in the remote commercial fishing town of Cordova on the Eastern shores of Prince William Sound, I spent my summers as a child exploring the tidal flats. I never tired of beachcombing for treasures carried ashore by the waves or carefully flipping over rocks to marvel at the intertidal creatures that live in the dynamic space between the high and low tides. As a teen and young adult, I worked in the local canneries processing salmon and eventually I worked as a deckhand on commercial fishing boats, catching and delivering wild salmon to the local processors. These days, I don’t live close to the ocean, so I often plan adventures home to Cordova and to other coastal towns to gather inspiration and to share my love of the sea with my husband and our two sweet sons who love and appreciate its beautiful bounty as I do. In addition to loving the sea and all her creatures I spend much of my free time outdoors with my family where I enjoy foraging for mushrooms, fishing with my husband, hiking and exploring this big, beautiful state. I will forever be inspired by the seemingly endless untamed beauty Alaska has to offer.
